“We have focused on a target group that is often ignored in the development of apps”

Why did you decide to register for the preliminary rounds of the 2019 ICTalent Awards?
We registered for the preliminary rounds of the 2019 ICTalent Awards because we believe we have come up with a very strong concept. Along with this strong concept we also have highly specific target group and a real solution.

How would you best describe your product? What is it capable of? What does it do?
Our product, Ability, can best be described as a voice assistant that is always available, can be used with Google Assistant or Siri and makes banking accessible whenever you are unable to use your usual app. You can carry out all the standard functions of your normal banking app with voice commands. This assistant is primarily intended for blind and/or vision-impaired people, but it can also be implemented by people who, for whatever reason, are unable to use their regular online banking apps.

What makes your product so unique?
At this time, no voice assistant that can use all the functionalities of your banking app exists. With Ability, actions like transferring money, sending payment requests, calling up your last paid bill etc. can all be carried out with voice commands. And thanks to the PSD2, we can link Ability to every bank in Europe which means we can help as many people as possible.

Why should you win the 2019 ICTalent Awards?
We should win the 2019 ICTalent Awards because we have come up with a product that responds to the latest developments in Europe. We have focused on a target group that is often ignored in the development of apps. We are also offering a solution that utilises new technologies and we have approached this from a new perspective. We also really want to find out if we can develop this into a product together with the partners of Fontys. The four of us simply cannot do that alone. We need the partners' expertise to elevate this product to the highest level.

Suppose you win the main prize of EUR 2000 per person. How will you use that money to further develop your product and talents?
If we win the main prize of EUR 2000, we can use this money to further improve and develop the product and ourselves. For us it very important to figure out what more we can do with the voice assistant. We are now focusing on banks, but perhaps we can do much more with voice command.

And... is there anything you wish to say to your competitors?
All of the groups that have made it to the final have come up with great products, but only one can be the winner...
